From the terrace, when you go down the
stairs to the street below, there’s a rock carved cave suite
on the right. In front of the cave room, there’s a huge
bellows. This bellows belonged to Uncle Hasan, the former
landlord of the house. Uncle Hasan used to whet iron
utensils on the rock on the side.
The Oriental Cave is a true family room. If
you like you can stay here with your children. The
decoration and function of the room are very suitable for
this purpose. The room is entirely of rock and has a history
of 250 years. It was carved with patience, using pointed
iron chisels. During the restoration of the room, we used
the same tools, but we did this without spoiling the
architectural structure. After Uncle Hasan and his wife left these
chambers, it was filled with water and mud, and the rocks had to
be cleaned thoroughly. In the Oriental Cave, right across
the bedroom section, and in front of the window, there’s a
slightly elevated section that we call an Oriental Chamber.
The floor of this part, made entirely of wood, is decorated
with precious “Cicims” and “Sumaks”. The window opens out to
the tortoise garden and the walnut tree. You see colorful
roses in the summer and the white snow in the winter. In the
room, there are also very special kilims, tent decorations
and some works of ceramic artisans.
